It would be nice to learn what wire is required for that, and could you, e.g. «temper» or «harden» a soft wire to make it springworthy, and should it be before or after the bending. Thank you.

I have heard SPP works best when the coils are not touching and I expect with a "certain" spacing between coils. A thought - select a bolt or piece of threaded rod of a certain? length and diameter with a certain? thread spacing, grind flats (3? flats or 4? flats) along the length leaving a small section of threads between each flat to establish coil spacing. OR position a piece of threaded rod as a coil spacing guide very close to the "spinning diameter" of the winding mandrel

I've watched a number of how to make springs videos in the normal course of watching maker/machining vids on YT. Until recently, haven't needed to try; my big box of springs, combined w/ never throwing springs away has served me well. Then I needed to repair a shop vac motor exposed to moisture & age. It needed torsion brush springs wound opposite to every torsion spring I had or could buy of the right gauge wire. About to start manufacturing the type of apparatus I've seen numerous times, this morning, in a few hours, I decided to take another look through YT vids. Am I glad I did. You have saved me several hours of machining & assembly I was about to invest in $0.20 springs. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. GeoD

Very admirable! This setup is quiet, light and not power hungry. Perfect for the home shop in the city. I have looked everywhere online to purchase a similar unit but to no avail. The only equipment I have found which comes close is a Carlson sc-1. However these units are manually driven. If you know of any suppliers the info would be greatly appreciated. Love your videos.!!
